Holiday Wreath Project :: Behind The Scenes

The Holiday Wreath Project was Keyhole Galleries first studio location shoot.

For many of us it was a first shooting in a studio.

We had two new photographers joining in.

There was a LOT of learning.

There was mixed nudity in that some of us again were strangers and modeling for each other.

and..

besides shooting the the holiday wreath project

SO much happened!!

The energy was contagious

and positively intoxicating!

Tremendous creativity occurred.

Here is my personal perspective:

Photographer :: Don Bailey

I’ve been using a camera as a tool for art since about 1963. I began using a small format, soundless movie camera to create stop motion animation when I was about 9 or 10 years old. I was given my first still camera about the same time. It was a Polaroid Swinger that captured small [1 1/2" X 2 1/2" approx.] black and white images. I bought my first 35mm SLR while in the Air Force back in 1972. It was a Miranda with a removable penta-prizm. I can’t recall the model. In the early 80s I moved to a Minolta 7000i and stayed with that until the late 90s when I began using a small, very low quality digital camera from Intel. In spite of the poor images, I was hooked on digital and bought a Fuji FinePix in the early 2000s that had a sensor resolution of about 3.5MP. Some of the images from that camera are still posted on this stream. The Fuji was my primary camera for about 3 or 4 years when I finally made the leap to a dSLR from Konica-Minolta, a model 5D, and a Canon S2IS for back-up. I am now looking to upgrade to something on the pro level, Canon 60D would be nice!  Send cash! :)
Why Art? Because I have to [call it air for the soul]!
Why Nudes? Because I can [God bless a man who's wife and friends will take their clothes off and let him take photos]!

Photographer :: Ronald Frazier

Ronald Douglas Frazier

Local self-taught photographer.

Has been working exclusively with digital photography for 10 years and 35mm in mostly black and white prior to that. Winner of several photography awards in the past at McLean County Amateur Art shows.  Exhibited 3 times at the Sugar Creek Art Fair in Normal, IL.  For 6 years was a regular at the Bloomington Farmer’s Market Artist’s Alley. Is currently showing a rotation of work at Main Gallery 404 in downtown Bloomington.  A notable theme in a varied body of work is a singular take on Midwestern imagery.  Frequent trips to Venice, Italy inspire intimate looks that only the locals see, and a passion for the garden provides lush flower photos in rich colors.  A blog and a new direction in photography has led to exploration and self-discovery of the ‘Artful Nude’  with Keyhole Gallery group.  Interesting work expected for this maturing photographer and his camera.
